OK, this may sound anal, but my entire engine compartment is yellow now. Yellow header, hoses, plug wires, valve covers, sway bars.....you know the whole 9.....my only problem is that I want to replace my battery, but I am stuck with the Optima red top....My question is, will the Optima Yellow Top serve well as an everyday car battery? I have no idea if it will or not, so someone please fill me in.....god forbid I have to put that ugly red thing in my car..... TJ

Lep yes the Yellow top will serve as an everyday battery, however it doesnt have as many cold cranking amps as the red top. The yellow is more deep cycle than starting, while the red top is a favorite of drag racers and circle track racers around here. during the cold winter months up where your at I might put the red top back in since you prob wont show it much in the snow anyway, but for sure with the high power stereo the yellow top is the better choice.

Lep, The Yellow Top will work just fine as an everyday battery. I have been using them in my every day drivers for the last few years. Don't worry about the cca's seeing as the yellow is only 50 cca's less. As for starting in winter, I live in Wisconsin, I own a Chevy K3500 Diesel Pick up truck, The yellow top batteries (2) Start it just fine, and from the factory I had 2 1000 CCA batteries stock. So, I would not worry about it. Plus from all I have seen between the Red and Yellow, The Red's seem to fail alot more often, and can't take serious abuse such as a current draw stereo system. Also Optima does not warranty Red top's in vehicles that contain any aftermarket products, such as stereo systems. The Yellow top on the other hand, was specifically designed with car audio in mind, and will serve your needs just fine, without problems.

Thanks Josh, I wasnt sure about how much the difference in yellow and red CCAs were, someone had said it was yellow had about 600 while the red was close to 1000 around here, but yeah your right the reds cant handle a stereo system, I have seen many dead at shops and being recharged, while my little yellow even though it costs $50 more keeps working away.

Josh is absolutely correct. Those Reds SUCK BOOTY when it comes to vehicles with much of a system, or auxiliary draw. The yellow will suit you just fine, no worries.
