New here, hi all. I see this looks like mostly an spl type board but im sure someone can answer this.
I was told to upgrade the power wire from the alternator to the battery. It looks like the factory wire is about 10 guage. I already put a bigger wire for battery to chassis ground and i can understand why that makes sense. I dont understand why i should need to run a bigger wire from the alternator to the battery. The alternator can only deliver so much amperage to the battery anyway. Shouldnt the wire used by the factory be enough to carry all the current that the alternator could possibly deliver? I mean its easy to replace it or add another bigger wire but i would just like to know if its really gonna make any difference and if it is, why?

Would you try and wire your 1000 watt amp with 10 guage wire?

well, why should a 85-120 amp alternator have to try and dump it's cureent because auto engineer's were ignorant in wiring the car.

run a 4awg rught from the alternator output to the battery. Leave the s tock wire in there.
