HOly cow buddy, it's been less than 24 hours.

Your best bet is to get brackets made for a GM case alternator. Then get a GM alternator.

Thanks man, sorry for the rush, just want toknow what I need to do to get my stuff installed.I've been sitting on it for 2 months now due to lack of funds.I had a bad feeling I was going to go that route. The alt.want be a problem have an uncle in the coreing business, but the brackets thats another problem.I have 1100a2,400a4 the amp will be bridged(1100)on two twelves.I have an accuvolt to keep the voltage steady but voltage and amperege are to diffrent things. Will the 100 amp alt.not be enough two charge two batteries and keep the lights from diming on the long and loud comutes to work and back?

Well, we've done a couple of VW aircooled engones with GM alt, wasn't that hard. Bracket might cost ya 30-50 bux. Just run the GM alternator and the VW Generator and have a seperate battery system for your stereo.

Thanks extreme,I'm not gonna fool with no generator(it's no fun haveing to reve the motor to brighten your headlights)I do understand what your saying.Do you have any pictures of the brackets or location of other alt.Maybe you could just sell me a set of those brackets and save me some trouble?

I found, in the junkyard, the factory double pulley for an airconditioned bug, and stuck the pulley on my freshly built 1776 engine. I have found an alt and am currently working out the details on the mounting bracket. I'm thinking mine will completely replace the factory charging system, however, I'll leave the generator housing in place and remove the stator and armature windings, leaving an empty shell with just the shaft to spin the fan. Thinking it'll work just fine!

STILL waiting to hear a GOOD pair of HLCD's!!

If it dont fit, force it... if it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway...

Thanks audio, good luck with the brakets keep me posted.About the double pulley man what a lucky find not many of those around.I'm glad someone else has the aircooled fever on here, maybe we can help each other out.I think I will just leave the stock 75 amp alt in place and make some brackets for another alt.Its gonna be funky though because unlike you I will have to use one belt to drive them both.I will be getting a new 1835 to help pull me or should I say push me and my alts.around.That 1600 would just not do.
