i'm havn't yet put my system in my 83 lebaron, but i all ready know i'm gonna need something to keep it running. i have no idea what the output it on the alt as it is unreadable anymore. i would like to install a second batt before going all out on a new alt if possible(i take it would cost alot more than the batt) what would you guys advise. what i'm gonna be running is in my Sig. oh damn i forgot, if i do go with a second batt (stinger/optima) and better standard batt (small penske now/ going to a full size interstate ect.) what will i need other than more cable (batt isolator, resistors ect.) cable coming from up front will be 0/1awg if not 0/2awg (big bad welders cable, the cars ghetto and ugly as hell, if theres no down side to using welders cable other than flexability and style's than i don't care, it's alot cheaper).
i don't wanna kill my engine, i got a backup alt outta another similar car, so if the original dies due to it being it's time, t's okay. i don't wanna put undue strain on her due to a lazy, unplaned install though.

well i say before you buy that second battery, do the right thing and get a HO alt...just make sure you DON'T get one from a dealer cause all they will do is try to sell you a $500 stinger alt...go through your yellow pages and call up alt and starter shops and get some estimates...it shouldn't be more than about $250. Even if you get a second battery you're still gonna have to deal with the alt problem sooner or later so just get it over with and do it right the first time...the alt powers the system when the car is on, the battery(s) power it when it's off......
