I'm looking for a heavier than factory duty alternator for my 86 Corvette. The factory one is a 105A model, and I'm looking for a 150-200A model.
Anyone know of such a thing? I can't have my old one redone as there isn't a shop around here that does that.
Model recommendations and/or online sources would be appreciated.

dont get it upgraded, even if you find someone close, unless you only up it 30 or 40 amps. ive heard of too many problems with upgraded ones (especially upgrading by a lot), mine is upgraded, and i still havent gotten it to work just right.
your best bet is to look at stinger and ohio generator. ohio gen seems to be a little better price, both are excellent alts. i dont know the web sites, but you can prob search for them and get them.

There is a guy in my area with a HUGE system in his corvette. He competed in SBN in the SQ division., His name is Terry Devault. He's got a HUGE alternator in there. And Several Stinger batteries as well. VERY sweet install. If ya look through the sbn pics, someone is bound to have taken a pic of this car.

I don't know why you have had so many problems with your alt. Although I own my own car audio shop now I was an auto electic mechanic for two years and I have built many many high amp alts the same as you need for your camaro without any trouble. Give me an e-mail inluding the year, and engine size of your camaro, and I will see what kind of a price I can do.
