I drive an 88 acura legend with a stock battery. I have an 800a2 currently hooked up to a 1 farad lightning cap. I am getting another 600a4 next week to power my mids and highs. Do you think i will need a new battery(deep cycle)or alternator with this setup of an 800a2, a 600a4 and a 1 farad cap?

install it and see what happens, if the lights dim and stuff and caps dont help it, upgrade the alt and battery, but upgrading just the batt will really do no good.

hey meat. This is what i would do. Install the amps you need, if the lights dim (i wuld say install a cap but u already have one) the cap might be enough to keep the lights from dimmin. If that doesnt help then try a Optima yellow top battery. The battery charges 3 times faster then discharge. Then if the light continue to dim, then go for the bigger alternator. other people might disagree with me but this is how 97% of the people i talk to at my local shops tell everyone. Upgrading the recharging system is not cheap but if its needed its needed. Best wishes to you.

Okay first like everyone else said install it and see what happens. Then if the lights dim bad don't waste your money on a cap (if you want more info on why visit the FAQ on my web site cause I'm tired of explaining why). Go straight to installing a optima in the trunk close to the amps, it will give you all the benifits of the cap (due to its low internal resistance) but also give you thousands times more reserve capacity. It will also make life easier on you alternator.
