According to http://www.earthquakesound.com/phd2.htm ,

My older-model PHD2 draws 140 amperes at most. I have a 160-amp alternator. Would I be able to run 2 PHD2s, each at 2 Ohms? That's a max of 280 amps...my lights dim slightly with Bass Mekanik with my ONE PHD2.

1) Even if I had a BIG capacitor, would my lights dim with 2 PHD2s (off my 160-amp alt.)??

2) Should I consider 2 MTX 81000D amps instead?

3) How much current does the 81000D draw?

screw the cap..
get at least 2batts in the back (that means 3including stock)
4batteries would be best (given eq recommends 2batts per amp).... but its up to you.

you dont need to post the same question multiple times in the different forum subjects... most of us read a multiple of these forums, and one post is usually enough...

I agree with [meph], try to get four extra batteries, but at least two. This should help a lot.

I would get batteries except I am not planning on competing. This is for daily driving only so batteries wouldn't do much--I need a BIG ASS alternator.

I was running about 4800 watts with a 160-amp alternator and four extra batteries (might I add in the same type of car as you) all the time driving around town, and I never experienced any electrical problems (dimming lights, etc.). It's probably a heavy load on the alternator, but batteries will help regardless if you compete.
