what size wire should i run back....

and can my alt power all those batteries? not 14 volts but a steady amount like 13volts strictly for daily driving. enough so i dont have to touch anything??? like batteries dying?

this will be a setup such as this... stock battery up front, two optimas in back powering an mtx 1000d... the front battery will push the car starting and the mid bass amp... around 200watt or less...

does this sound like a good idea?

well a couple of things

1. you are using two different brands of batteries, correct? stock starter battery and optimas in back? doing this is not recommended, because the batteries charge and behave differently.. to do this properly you would have to use a battery isolator.. this is ok except it drops the voltage going thru the isolator by aprox .7 volts (not good) if you dont use an isolator, you may or may not have problems. hard to say.

2. for wire, i always say bigger is better up to a certain point. i suggest 1/0 gauge welding cable for such a long run. maybe 2 gauge.

3. can your alternator power your extra batteries? probably.. i would keep an eye on the voltage at first.. if it drops below 13.8 while at idle with the stereo OFF, then your alternator is having a hard time keeping up with the batteries. with the stereo playing at a normal volume, check voltage at alternator and if its continuosly below 13 volts, dont expect to have that alternator last too long. i dont expect you to have problems powering those 2 extra batteries really, optimas are pretty efficient and dont present too big of a load..

i know alot of the stuff i said is pretty basic, but i wanted to cover it all for anyone else reading...

thanks... looks like im gonna have to wait to find an alt that will fit my car thats not like 800$. maybe i can find a newish mazda or ford... then i could just go to a junkyard and pull out an alt and get it for cheap practically brand new...

besides i dont think my alt is doing so well with 1400watts in the first place!

back to the drawing board!
