I am going to be running 2 punch 800a2s and a punch 250a2. (I may also add another punch 250a2 to my back speakers) So far I have 4 guage power wire and 1 1farad cap, and a distribution block. I was planning on putting in a starrtech alternator rated at like 160 amps. and an extra battery in the trunk + another 1farad cap.

First off my main concern is the power wire with over 2000 watts I dont think 4 guage will be enough but my local stereo shop says it will be fine (they have been known to F**** peoples cars up and not do too good of a job).

My second question is will a 160 amp alternator be enough if I get a second cap and a small svr battery. I will probalbly be pulling anywhere from 150 amps to 180 amps.

And my last question is will I be paying too much for the alternator if they want $289 for the alternator or is that a fair price. I have bought from starrtech before and they have a good dependable product. If anyone knows of a good product for cheaper then please let me know.

thanks BOB

You didnt say what kind of vehicle you had, but yes that sounds like a fair price for the alternator, if it does infact do what it is rated for. As far as the rest of the elect. system, I would say upgrade the battery in front, add an identical battery in back, and you should be good to go.
