A friend of mine has a 2001 Ford Escape. According to Crutchfield he has four 6x8s. He wants me to find him new speakers. The problem is that he wants them to just drop right in and he doesn't want to have to mess with anything. I know Pioneer makes 6x8s, but I really don't want to recommend those to him. Clarion and Infinity make 5x7s that come with 6x8 adapter plates. Does anyone know of anyone else that makes anything that would work or of other alternatives? Thanks.

I dont know about the escape, but, sometimes you can sneak a 6x9 into a 6x8 opening, by removing just a little metal or plastic.

I think metra makes 6x8 to 6.5 or 5.25 adapters.

If you are looking for high quality 6x8's or 5x7's check out Boston Acoustics, JL Audio, and Diamond Audio. If you are looking for adapter plates so you can put a different size speaker in that opening go to Parts Express or look up online Metra adapter kits. Hope I was some help and good luck.

well for escape 6x9 not fit only 5x7 or 6x8 if you want try a memphis pr57s(midline) or ar-en57 (topline) both with swivel mount tweeter and the ar model with biamp design with 12 db ocatve crossover

All the above are great options, IMO. Just to add to the pool - CV StealthIII (not HD?), JBL GTO and Power, Infinity Reference.

You could "easily" put in a 5.25 or maybe even squeeze in a 6 or 6.5" round speaker. With the 5.25, you could get a comp set and make a 5x7/6x8 plate. AudioArt and Clarion make 5x7/6x8 comp plates - similar to Infinity Kappa's 4x6, but with the bigger woofer.

Blaupunkt, Kenwood, and Kicker Impulse are all decent too. I've ran all three and they hold up pretty well. They take abuse - not always the BEST, but they're pretty good - not that expensive either .

I've not run RF or MTX coaxials, but they seem to sell very well and I've not heard many/any complaints.

I ramble - Good luck
