Now that I've got this job at Best Buy, I can get some components, probably Pioneer and someone had suggested putting them in my 6x9's location, will this work easily, is the factory hole fit for the driver?
(I'll probably put the tweeter up in the factory location up front)
PLEASE respond to this by e-mailing me at ZANNYCAT@aol.com as I do not visit this forum too often!
Thanks!!!
You can just reply to this on here and then copy the message into a e-mail!
If my e-mail worked faster, I'd zap you, but alas...it is slower than malassas in January.
Yup....you might want to make a baffle-plate out of wood, plastic, metal, enemy's bones (doh, woops), etc. Make it to fit the 6x9 opening, then have the holes cut in it for the 5.25s or 6.5s. If you go with 6.5s, you will probably have to do a little cutting. If so, ask on here and at work first (especially if you haven't done that before)!!
The tweeters up front are a good idea, the only problem is that you will get the rear signal up front. This isn't necessarily a bad thing....did it in my sis' ex's Mustang. It sounded GREAT, but then again, he had no front speakers to begin with .
In his 'stang, we had a Kenwood 10" 3-way hatchback box (from previous car). I took the mids and tweets out of the box, closed up those holes, to keep the integrity of the box. I extended the wires from the speaker cup-terminal and ran the mids to holes cut by his rear seat (dude before him ran a BA set with 5.25s in rear-deck and 1" tweets by the seats - only the molding was left that said BA, else I'd use them and not Kenwood). The tweets went up in the stock speaker location.
It was all a rear-signal from his head-deck (2 RCA out decks were not affodable for him at that time - 4 years ago), being driven by a Coustic amp under the seat. It pounded pretty well and sounded a lot better (tweets and mids were in the trunk with the box before ...).
So, back to your question...yah you should be able to do that ok . I would personally go with something other than Pionee....take a listen to the products you have available. If they sound good to you, then do what makes you smile .
