aside from the obvious i am very curious in what the difference is with a 5.25" component system and a 6.5'' component system is. i know size is different but my question is more oriented towards the sound quality itself. another question would be which would be best for a front stage kicker components or cdt audio.? thnks.

The difference is size, that's about it. Of course the bigger speaker is going to have better midbass. so, if you can fit the 6.5, do it. chances are they cost the same price anyhow.

You usually want to go with a bigger driver unless there is an installation constraint.
Between Kicker and CDT, the pair that will sound better is the pair that is installed correctly. (dampened door and mounting location etc.)
That being equal and between only those two, I'd probably go kicker.
