I have a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT. I still have the stock speakers installed because I will be selling my Explorer relatively soon and am not positive what I'll be getting next, so I don't want to buy 6x8" speakers when they may not fit in my next car.

My first car was a 1992 Honda Accord LX. I was 16 and once I was 17 I used up all of my money for a system in 2005 (about $1000 after installation). About a month and a half after I had everything installed, Kenwood head unit, (4) 6 1/2" Pioneer interior speakers, Kenwood amp and (2) Pioneer subs, everything was stolen except my interior speakers. The idiots broke the amp and completely pulled out the area where all the wires connect instead of simply cutting the wires.

Anyways... I finally got another system put into my Explorer around August of last year. I should have bought new 6x8's then, but used my money elsewhere instead. My system would overpower my stock speakers and I could barely hear the song being played.

So, I decided since I'm low on funds to just connect the (4) 6 1/2" Pioneer speakers I still have in parallel with my stock speakers (one Pioneer for the front left, one for the front right, etc.) so that I now have (8) interior speakers. It sounds great! But, when I play my Ipod, the Pioneer speakers crackle when I turn the volume up. I usually use my Ipod, so I'm not 100% positive that it works fine with a CD, but today I put in a CD and there was no problem.

What are the possible problems? I'm assuming it's the Ipod adapter cable, but I don't want to just go buy another and have the problem be something I could fix without spending money. Could the wires connecting the Pioneer speakers and stock speakers be loose? I just wouldn't think it would effect all of the speakers. Anything else I should look at?

The speakers are connected directly to the head unit. If you need to know more about my system set-up I can let you know. Please, anything you can tell me would be appreciated. Also, sorry for rambling, I got caught up in the moment remembering my first car [Frown]

Thank You!!

you can't run EIGHT 4ohm loads off a deck. you'll mess up the outputs if it doesn't go into a self-protection mode.
