I'm in need of a set either 6 1/2 or 6X9, heck i'll even settle for coaxials at this point that will handle 400watts rms or more. I've found a set of cadence 6X9's that basically look like subwoofers with a tweeter on them but they have been discontinued. But they would have taken the power. Then there is the top of the line soundstream components that are just rebadged cadence speakers, or they both just happen to have the same basket and 3in. voice coil. But im not sure if they would get as loud as would like. any input on a component set from you guys would help me out a bunch.

use 2 componet sets [Smile]

most crossovers can't take that much power put into them regardless.

Didnt think about that, I could picture those things melting though. I got an electronic 3way crossover i could use instead of the little passive ones that come with the set. I'll probably just get a set that looks half way descent, maybe RE or Soundstream.

I've used over 350 watts to Hybrid Audio, Genesis, Scan-Speak, Old MB Quart and a few others.

As long as you have a volume knob and common sense you can not have to much power. My tweeters have 350 watts available to them. They are rated at 60 I believe.

I currently run the cadence CVL midranges in my doors on a true 125-150 watts through my audiocontrol EQ AND X-OVER and they take it but I don't know how much more they can handle. Since I run I.D HORNS I have no Idea how the tweets would hold up. However the passive x-over supplied with them is pretty beefy.
