I own 2 pairs of them right now....and without a doubt the best component set I've ever used.

The tweeter is amazing, so smooth and clean. And the mid is sweet as well.

Not a bad set. The tweeter is a bit hot out of the box, and needs some taming for best sound IMO.

when you say hot do you mean "bright" or "harsh" or just too loud?

thanks KF

Little of both. Level could come down on the passives, and it sounded like an 8-12k peak...probably to compensate some for off axis mounting.

A little EQing could help them out some...but not a bad set.

i was wondering the same thing. i have a set of the SS56.2's on the way for my truck, and i have a couple old school kicker amps to power them with. i have a four channel zx460 and a zr360. what would you guys do? go full active with the four channel? bridge the four channel and use the supplied passives, and last but not least use the 2 channel (zr360) with the passives?
[Confused]

thanks KF

I *totally* agree. I need to work on taming mine... I'm used to my DLS Iridium and this one fatigues my ears. The set is extremely accurate but is indeed "hot" and fatigues my ears.

planned on using them in the coaxial config,(in the doors of my new truck) so i am hoping that being so far off axis it will tame the peaks. [Smile]

When I ordered mine for my truck I called kicker and asked them what amp do they recommend and they told me that they tell eveybody to use the sx750.4 on them. I have my sx900.2 on mine and good god with the built in eq on the amp you can tone down the tweets and make them sound like pure butta............

i take it you are using the passives? my deck has a 3 band parametric eq so i should be good there. i also have a kicker kq5 at my disposal should i choose to use it. i used to have my system in a 89 tbird but i am moving it to my new truck (2000 GMC Sierra). so do you think that my zx460 bridged will be too much? i can use the zr360 instead (about 130 watts rms). thanks for the help.
