I've got 16 JBL 2226H 15" cones, in various conditions. A number of them have the following ailment, others have ripped cones, a few are fine. I need to get them in the best condition i can. Specifically, i'd like them sounding as good as possible for the 27th April :s Plus i have more than full time work at the mo... so basically i'm screwed before i even start, but all help will be greatly appreciated.
This i'm hoping can be fixed without reconing. The suspensions at the bottom, spiders if you like, look like they have been overextended, or perhaps this plus overheated, to leave them permenently warped. I've tried carefully pressing them back into place (yeah, probably not the greatest idea, but if it was going to save me shipping 10 speakers off, it was worth a try) and no luck. When i press them they dent over a small area. These warps go about a quarter of the way around. 45°. See below:

If it affects the sound, I believe they are done for.

But while we're at it, is this a symptom of something else do you know, or is it the spider which is causing the problem? Have you seen this on any burnt out coils before for example?

From what I've seen, Distorted spiders are usually just from being worn out from excursion. Usually, it's a weak spider design that's been pushed really hard or that has seen some pretty extreme temperature. There is no mistake about burnt coils. You would be able to smell the tell-tale odor and you would here a nasty rattle or no sound at all.
Are these PA speakers? I'm not familiar with that jbl model#.
