I won a MECA show a few years ago with a stock system. It all depends on how many are in your class and who is in your class. . .

Of course adding tweeters doesn't always improve SQ, but they can if utilized properly. Please understand I am not some stupid kid putting 500 midranges and tweeters in each door. I have had success improving sound stage expansion with 1 extra set of tweeters placed in the kick. The effect moved the stage forward and outside of the vehicle. I am just starting out in SQ. The first show I went to, I was bumped right into Stock plus because of my experience in DB Drag. The judge stated, after judging my vehicle, that my system was far from an amature system. I know it needs improvement and I am working on it. I am not here to bash people or products, just to learn from others out here supporting car audio.

I'd have to agree.

What other mods have been done to this explorer? (sound-deading etc...)

Also, what equip. are you using for the active duty?

I'm just trying to gauge where you are at and what you are already using as a foundation for your system.

id take a look at the JBL Gti series, they have some with and without a 'c' prefix...
eg; c508 GTi or 508GTi

the 'c' is the higher end model, i have the 508GTi
and they are some of the cleanest/loudest mids ive had...i can only imagine how the c508GTi's must sound.. they can take ALOT of power too...
