First of all, I wasn't looking for a competition system. I just wanted too replace the Factory speakers in my Alero. So I went with Infinity Kappa 462.7cfp plates in the doors and Infinity Kappa 693.7i's in the rear. I'm very impressed with how they sound. Remember, this is just a daily driver. For being what they are, they sound great. I would deffently recomend them to a friend.

I think so. I enjoy spending a few hours a day in the car now. The factory speakers were okay, but they just didn't bring the music alive like the Infinity Kappa's do.

You should check out a local Sound Quality event (if they have them) you would be amazed at what cars can be made to do with music.

Nothing like that around here, they don't even do DB drags.

Sounds like you should start one up, then. Pretty easy thing to organize, if it's just you and a few friends, just pick a judge, flip through the IASCA rule book and have some fun on a friday afternoon.

PS: Prizes like a few McDonalds coupons or a piece of gear like a battery terminal or something are always fun and not too expensive.

It would be worth a 2 hour drive to visit one at least once. Ask someone in charge which are the sound quality cars....explain to the car owners that you are interested in Sound Quality but you don't really know what it should sound like in a car and ask for a listen/demonstration. If you can, when you talk to the person in charge, ask WHICH cars are the good SQ cars...I've heard many that sounded like rusty ass and the owners were clueless...technically though, they were SQ competitors.

Nearest city where they do any sound offs / DB drags would be a good 5 hour drive.

Being just a daily driver, and keep in mind I need for everything too look stock, and I'm on a tight budjet. I'm pretty happy with the way it sounds. Little hard too drop everything just too go to a sound off 5+ hours away. Gotta work too pay the bills and too buy what toys I can.

With my bills, it'd be years before I could build my deam system. Next major prodject is a 427 big block for my 78 El Camino street rod. I've been saving for a little while for that now.

Don't have to wait till your dream system is finished to enjoy one that is already done.Sounds like it will be a street beast.

I hear ya, The set up in the Alero sounds alot better then what the factory put in it. I plan on changing out the L7 for a pair of TREO Engineering SSI 12.44's sometime this summer. Also going to Dynamat the heck out of the trunk. I'm thinking a couple of Dynamat Xtreme trunk kits. I'm not sure if the El Camino will get a system or not. It may turn into a street/strip car. All depends on how crazy I build the 427. Already have a set of Dart heads for it. Trying too find a duel 4bbl intake that'd not a tunnel ram, and not a Edelbrock. Everybody and thier brother has Edelbrock, so I'm going 100% Edelbrack free, LOL.

As for headers, I usely run the Doug Thorley Tri-Y's. Making a intake manifold is alittle bit more then I can do. I need too stay with aluminum intake manifold and aluminum heads too keep the weight down. Big Block Chevy engines are not lite. But with the aluminum heads and intake, it sould be no heavier then a SBC.
