I have a 97 integra and I am currently in the process of installing a Focal utopia 3 way component set with the 6.5 inch woofer, 5 inch midrange, and tweeter.
My primary concern for the woofer is the get as much midbass out of it. I am going to build kickpanels to hold these speakers. But I am also building fiberglass door pods for the 5inch midrange.

What suggestions as to what size these enclosures should be? I have the 6.5's in the doors right now in 1/4 cube pods and they have great midbass but im looking for more impact by putting those into a larger kickpanel enclosure, but I am wondering if I should try to maximize airspace for both the 6.5 and 5inch to maximize midbass output. What do you guys think?

If you want better midbass I would make your kicks breathe into some cavity (not in the cabin if you can) or if not, vent them into the carpet...they speakers need air to resonate properly down there. Sealed kicks with a 6.5 of that nature aren't going to work IMO.

If you want impact, you need to deaden, sturdify (I made that one up) and tighten everything up. Non hardening clay on the baffles will help, as will deflex pads behind the drivers, but most important will be airspace and a very, very solid baffle.
