Hi all. Just getting into some basic car audio, and I have a question after a few hours of searching this site. It's been super informative BTW.
I am trying to get some new drivers- 6.5" I think. Here's what I have so far-
MB Quart crossovers- they say MCX215 Infinity tweeters Infinity RS-500 5.25"
The amp is bridged to 2x100 RMS for ther components.
I will be making a sealed sub-box for some yet-to-be-determined subs.
Now here's the deal- the 5.25" need replacing. Since budget is an issue, and this is no competition system, I need a reccomendation for what mids to put in. I have looked online quite a bit, and I realize not hearing these first is a problem. Taking that into consideration however, what would you guys reccomend I look at? I think $100 is about my limit, but if there's something less expensive that would work well with this set-up I'd be stoked.

Your door speakers should be 6.5" front and 4x6 rear if you have an extended cab. For the front doors I'd recommend Cadence CMW-6KIT, available directly from Cadencesound.com 80.00 a set. These speakers have a zobel correction filter in the crossover and offer outstanding sound quality for the price. My next choice would be the infinity reference series components...look on ebay. For the rear door id use 4x6 infinity kappa series coaxials or plates. I would stongly consider an EQ, maybe a Kicker IQ900(ebay). As for subs if you have an extended cab truck, I have a custom duel 10" box I made that fits under the back seat( it is a tight fit). It has 2 visonik 106s4 subs and is ported at 29 hz. If you are interested let me know. I can send pics of the box.

Thanks for the reply- those cadence look cool. I already have 2 12" Boston Pro Series 12.5 for subs, so I think in order to fit those under the seat they'll be going in to a sealed box. I listen to rock mostly anyway.

Seal the box and add polyfill. Polyfill will make the box play lower like a ported box. Also choose a D-class amp with a variable frequency low boost...this is a huge plus. hifonics is a good choice.

Yea, I was looking at a Hifonics Brutus BX 1605D. Should be enough for the 2 12's, no?
I think tomorrow I'll be doing the ordering, and I'm hoping for the instal next week. Components are still a bit up in the air, so we'll see what happens- unless there's some more opinions out there heh.
