I have seen this posted many times before, but my question is a touch different. I plan to buy a set for some 6.5 speakers I will be installing in the rear of my car. I will be useing a set of rockford T162C speakers. My hopes are these baffles will aleviate the pressure the subs put on them, and of course I will look at possible ways to harden the foam, if needed, since it will be very flexable. But my issue here is the opening for my speakers in the rear is 6x9, so i will be getting an adapter to fit the 6.5's. However this leaves me with the option of getting a 6x9 baffle or a 6.5 baffle. I hear many people say the baffles limit/distort their sound and they end up cutting the backs out of the baffle, so perhaps getting the larger 6x9 baffle would allow the speakers more airspace while still separating them from the abusive pressures of the subwoofer? What are your thoughts with these perticular speakers and my available options? Of course its obvious I don't want to build my own custom enclosure here:)

don't expect much/any response below like 500Hz if you harden the "pods" with fibreglass or whatever.

Well I don't plan to harden them unless their flaping in the wind offereing no protection at all. I wouldn't even bother with these baffle things but all my other rears have just eventually started distorting a bit and sounding horrible overall after about a year of very limited use. Iv'e only put about 3000miles on my car since this set was put in and I don't always have the radio on. They were cheap to begin with so its not like they had amazing sound anyway, but they didn't sound "that" bad. So my issue is either the cheap speakers just die, or the air from my 15's is murdering them.

an easier solution would be to just not have the rear fill there at all. Rear fill is pointless in most applications anyways, but sounds like even more so when you have subs that are so over powering that the sheer pressure is working against the speakers. Your going thru alot of trouble for results that aren't going to be barely audible over your subs anyways.
