Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a good set of small-format tweeters. Right now I have a few ID NX30's, which I like, but I'm probably redoing my front stage and would like to try something different. I HAVE to use small-format tweeters, larger ones are not an option due to limited space. I've been looking at two, the Morel MDT-40 and the Seas Lotus car tweeter. Honestly, for price reasons I'm already leaning towards the Morels. Anyone ever use either of these, or have some good advice? Other options would be great too.

just a few others to mention (although I haven't heard them personally) would be Max-Fi and LPG.

Yeah, I've taken a look at both of those, and even discussed them in another thread awhile back. Those ID tweets are still treating me pretty well for now (even though I've found a little nastiness on a few songs), but I'm hoping to move up into a better class of tweeters. You know, a good chance to spend some more money too.

the seas tweeter is better IMO.

Eastcoast, thanks for chiming in. You mean that you like the full-on Seas Lotus tweet (the one with the chamber) over the Morels? Or compared to the LPG?

I think that for the price, I would be willing to buy a pair of LPG's just to play with, see how I like them.

Thanks again,
Ash

I like it better than both...but the LPG is a good performer.

I know you said you need small format, but if at some point you have the chance to play with a larger tweet, the hiquphon OW1 is an absolutely fantastic tweeter, only thing that tops it is a true ribbon IMO.

Man you're killing me. I looked at the OW1 when I first started...I've heard enough good reviews on here to want to give it a try, but I cannot fit that large of a tweeter, at least no way that I've figured out. This tweeter and mid are both going up on my dash (as I've talked about in another post) and its awfully tight up there. The only way I could fit a tweeter that big would be to have it firing sideways across the dash...not sure how that would work.

It's the right price too, less than both the Lotus and the nice ScanSpeak small-format... [Frown]
