Looking to add 2 8" midbass woofers into my doors, free air with 3 layers of Dynamat in the doors. The mids would be mounted on 1/2" MDF baffles on modeling clay. A Zapco Reference 750.2 amp will power them, while a Zapco 1000.4 bi-amps my Focal Utopias's up front. I wanted to add the IDQ8''s, but theyre discontinued. If I can find 2 of them, then I may buy those instead.
What midbass speakers do you recommend, and give links or model #'s.
They MUST be of the highest quality and take the 750.2's power well. Money is no problen with this particular set.
Thanks alot PeteyGoesBoom

JL8IB4's are very good, they don't need the power of that amp though. Mine get 75 watts a peice, and my doors give out before the midbass. The IDQ8s are nice as well.
I've not run them myself, but many people use Dynaudio, Image Dynamics, Morel (used), Seas, Scanspeak. Though I doubt you will find anything that will take 375 watts in your doors that well. I would also add a deflex pad behind the driver, it can make a huge difference.

I know this is a lot of links, but these are the midbass speakers I have researched to this point. One of these sets will be picked. I will be running a Zapco Reference 750.2 @4 ohms to 175RMS X2. I have Focal Utopia's going in custom kick panels. Zapco signal processing, and heavily dampened doors with Dynamat and Second Skin. I will probably just install the midbass speakers right into the doors on 1/2" MDF baffles with non-hardening model clay to the doors and to the baffles. I also have a Zapco Reference 1000.4 bi-amping my Utopias @4ohms to 150RMS X4.
PLEASE HELP ME DECIDE ACCORDING TO THIS INFORMATION!!! I LOVE loud, clear highs with snappy, punchy bass. I am a very versatile listener. I listen to jazz, classical rock, hip hop, metal, etc. I have 2 Zapco Reference 1100's @ 2ohms feeding 4 IDMAX 12"'s soon as well. (2200RMS total)
I gave you pro's all the info I have, with all the links... WHICH would be the best suited for this application according to my setup and liking!
Please dont use pricing as a key... money is not an issue, just quality and a good match! Thanks for your opinions... I spent a lot of money, and would like this last piece to be perfect! All opinions greatly appreciated and studied!
Thanks Pete

You may want to check the depth on the extremis, it may give you window problems depending on the car. The illusions look like promising drivers. Check on Ebay for the ID's you were looking for and the JL8ib4's, see what you come up with.
As for a wiring kit, go to Knukonceptz.com and get your stuff there, its very affordable, and infinitely higher quality than that kit you have linked.

I got the discontinued ID 8"s and there in my car, muhahahahahha.... I have jason winslow's old pair...... I wonder what he uses for midbass now, he obviouslly replaced these for something that he might of liked more.
Illusion audio rule but the company is on hitatus so even if you blew your woofers for the moment you might be out of luck, they were popular though.
The JL Audio IB8 or whatever woofer the guy above mentioned is a good candidate also.
CDT makes a 8" sub / midbass but it has 3.5 inch mounting depth.......
Kicker has a good 8" midbass supposedly.
The midbass market has somewhat died out in a small sense.... Unless you buy a 3 way set, Not that many 3 way sets even include over 6.5 inch or 7 inch midbass though. Canton has a 10" midbass and Phoenix Gold has a 9" midbass........
Just make sure your midbass will work good in your door enclosure...... Matching drivers to your install is key.....

Many companies 8" subs can work in an infinate baffle/small eclosure design. I personally used MTX BTL 84 subs as midbass in my Bronco II with great results. Talk to your fave speakers tech depart for info.
