Ok...now most of you who went to SBN went for 1) the BASS 2) the BIKINIES 3) BASS N BIKINIES 4) College dudes who work out more than go to class (for DQ ).
But, if anyone was able to get close enough to the monsters of the lanes, what were some of the cooler component/co-axial set ups? What kind of cross-over/amp system did they have? Any brands seem to be taking dominance this year? Anything we should be keeping an eye out for? Stuff like that.
I know, mids and tweets can't get you 165+ (anyone else remember when 136 was INCREDIBLE and 140 was a far off dream?!). But, they do seem necessary, and it will give us something to talk about on this forum for a bit .
To my ears, the vehicle to beat was the Oz Audio Green Truck inside the demo area, it was simply incredible (12's in doors, 8's in kicks, 2 sets of tweets and a pair of 5's on the dash, great staging, imaging AND install)
Illusion had some people REPRESENTING hardcore, in particular the gates explorer (which sounded pretty darn good) and this little Cougar with a removeable bumper (hiding batteries) and an owner which did NONE of the install but had lots of cash.
MB was NOT in full effect, and I noticed most of the people that had quart couldn't hear anyway... Although one MB guy said "We're the mercedes of loudspeakers", to which i must reply... HA.
Diamond was sorta in da house, but i didn't hear any which stood out except the porshe and this big nasty expedition which was ridiculously loud. I heard quite a few cars with boston pro's, none of which I liked, and the aforementioned Oz was in a few vehicles as well, all of which I loved (hey, no bias here)
The highlight of the show wasn't the front stage, uncle, so I don't remember it too well ;-)

I agree with Shadowstar about the OZ S-10. The install was unique... lots of match painted fiberglass. The components on the dash had me re-thinking my dashboard all day. Oh yeah, and it sounded incredible to boot. Other than that, not too many demos were out with SQ in mind(aside from the Nak car, very nice sound!) It looked to me as though the installs were centered around how many subs you can fit in, then using as many 6.5 coaxes or comps as needed to keep up. Just my experience...

By the way, did anyone sit in Shaq's Benz? It was the maroon(I think...) Mercedez with 3 Focal subs inverted in front of the back glass. I demo'ed the car and was VERY unimpressed overall. Not to mention the guy who was demo'ing it kept scanning through the tracks on various bass CDs trying vainly as he put it to "find a good one". Im my opinion he could probably listen to every bass cd out and not get the sound he wants(courtesy of the install). Just my experience...

Yeah.. I heard it. I wasn't impressed much, but the installer was heard to mention that he only had 7, yes SEVEN days to do the install.. Now, why OH WHY would focal let a 7 day install be their demo vehicle at SBN 2000? Thats just cheesy and leads me to question the company.
