i have a 2002 honda civic coup and im running a 148db system and im needing to get sum better highs. i dont wanna spend much money probly gettin everything off of ebay. at first i was lokoin at gettin all diamond audio but now im leaning towards Alpine Type-S. The fronts are 6.5" and the rear is 6x9's. I'll be buying the alpine 4channel amp putting out i beleive 50 watts a channel. im not tryin to have the best sq out there just something to sound a lil nicer. so heres the main thing because of cost and installation difficulties. how much difference is it gonna sound if i get the coaxils 6.5" upfront instead of the component system. id really love to just get the coaxils but if the compents sound worlds better i may end up going wtih them. i just want sum opinions on that and if anyone has used the type-s would be nice to know how they sound.

My new coaxs image way better than my old comp set I put togther. And no, the old ones were in phase acoustically, just didn't sound that good at all with Audiobling mids and Pyramid highs. Now I have Audax all around...I love 1" soft domes and aerogel cones.
IMO their soundstage is more evenly spaced than my friend's JL XR set, plus my fronts were $50 for the pair and his were around $300...even if you don't factor that in at all, mine are less fatiguing(sp?) on the ears and less shrill...his have a bit more clarity above 14khz but mine sound smoother and more relaxed. He has his tweets on the A pillar down low by the mirrors, mine are all in the dash so they reflect off the windshield. His run off the deck though, so I am probably comparing apples to oranges, but in my two experiences I have liked coaxials more than components. I say sound quality is all in the listener, some people don't like perfectly flat systems...I can appreciate them, just prefer my louder bass and scooped mids. Go somewhere where you can listen to both then decide would be my advice.

i understand your issue with price therefore i must mention, that deals are a dime a dozen.
just recently i purchased a 3 way comp set for 75 dollars. i wont say from who. but it was a hell of a deal. the comp set is in perfect condition, they look brand new.
im just giving my opinion on what you should do. although whatever you plan on doing make sure there is an amp to back it up, because it will suck if you dont.
