well now that i got my RE6.5s components i need to figure out a way to mount the tweeter instal.... ive checked out the pillar posts and thiers just no way to get them flush inside the posts
so my next option is the tweeter instaled either inside the stock tweeter location and have them fully hidden but not adjustable.... OR same location but ontop of the stock grill material? but id have to try and flaten out the stock grill for the premium sound location.... OR simply remove the factory mirror power adjuster on the drivers door and cut the passenger side to match.....
either way i instal them i wanna get the tweeters grills painted grey to match the interior and maybe even eventualy painting them to match the exterior
what you guys think?
should i just mount them hidden and loose the ability to tweek thier position/angle? or realy work on it?

I think you can modify that little factory location with the grill just enough to get them both to point directly in the center of the truck. I am not too sure on how big the RE tweeters is though, mine are pretty small. My tweeters arent angled that much and they sound great, however Kappa tweeters are known for being strong. You could possibly get another set of tweeter grills and cut a hole in them and flush mount the tweeters.
Does RE recommend mounting them close to the midwoofer of far away or anything? You still aren't going to be hearing anything but bass! What amp are you using on the RE comps? You had better be using an amp!!!

The stock locations are not all that bad actually. I put some RF fanatic Q's right in the stock holes and held them in with silicone and it sounds pretty damn good. They did a pretty good job of imaging them from the factory.
Be glad you didn't get what came from the factory, it's pretty much a joke:
If you notice the one with all the crud in it is from the drivers side where it got filled with water and who knows what else (pop from the looks of it) from the window being open. I would put some type of fabric in there to protect the tweets (Actually it had some stock).
You can still do a-pillar tweets if you do a little glassing. Take some mdf and cut out a ring that will accomidate the tweet's diameter and depth (might have to stack and glue some small 1/8" sheets and then you can use that to glass around.

well the pillars would be to much work so unless it would help ALOT ill just put them in the door location.....
ive thought about doing the kicks...... but i think i might just put the 6.5s in some custom door pods eventualy... i plan on keeping this truck for quite some time so im sure its gonna be changed up quite a few times.LOL tho ill probably upgrade them to the XXX comps when ever those come available.... but next thing ill upgrade is the amp to about 100-150watts give or take... and then i might throw these REs into the rear for fill Posts: 4858 | From: indiana | Registered: Apr 2003
