Car -94'accord Subs-2 IDQ 12's powered 400x2 by a PPI PC1800 Comps-CDT HD642DT 200x2 from a PPI PC4400(kicks)
Problem: Midbass lacking seriously.
Plan: I'd like to seal off the 6's or possibly jump up to a set of 7's(dyn), or 8's...I'm midbass hungry since I listen to a lot of hip hop...
Question: Where can I find that much space (at least .2cuft)in my car!
1)I've thought about enclosures under the front seats, but people have said that would sound muffled 2)Considered trying to rig something in the doors. 3)What about if I just do a sloppy thing and throw the enclosures on the back seat aiming forward? would that ruin my soundstage and keep the midbass in the rear? 4)What about moving the 6.5 into the kicks(qlogic) and putting the 4 in the door?
ANYONE have any suggestions? Also looking for the right speakers! Thinking of Illusion ND8, ND6 Dyn 160w (7") Focal 5ws? anyone use this? PPI Pro 8 IDQ 8 DD 6something...

I would recommend the biggest driver you can fit somewhere ahead of the front seats. I have seen a couple cars with speakers under the front seats and I have been unimpressed with all of them. I would keep you main speakers in the kicks and use the doors, or floor as the place to put the midbass driver.
In Accords the door panel blocks most of the speaker, so by putting a larger speaker (>6") in the door with the stock panel you don't gain much. Something like the Illusion or Dyn or Morel woofers that are pretty shallow fit easily in the door but the cones are about 50% blocked. The Focal 5ws are great speakers but due to their size don't have a ton of output.

I've tried under the seats in my old s-10 - save yourself the dissappointment.
Kicks or doors. As for the Qlogic kick panels, would it be easier in the long run to start from scratch and customize the panel to how you want it? They are great for "plug & play" installs, but many of the people on here find them to limit their instals.
What you can also do is build a box (quick and dirty like, not for final instal) and just place it where you think you'd want the speaker to be. Have someone help you so you can listen while they put it in position. That way you'll get an idea of it will sound once it's all done up right.
What about under the dash, firing down toward the floor. A couple people have gotten 8" subs to fit up under there, so a 6.5 might be possible too.

Thanks for the replies guys! So I take it that I should leave the 4 and the tweet in the kicks then.
What do you think about putting 6.5 or an 8 in the door itself, not the stock speaker location), but closer to where your hip is, I know I can get .2 cuft there, with a mounting depth of around 3.5 or so...it'll be an odd shape and really crazy, but I think it would work...the armrest and below on the accord is just a big empty area, so if I just seal it off with one piece of wood ,after reinforcing the liner, that should do it I think, and then surface mount the speakers, but they'd be firing into your hip...(more impact, i guess..)

I would go as close to the other speakers as possible. That way they will have an additive effect being close to each other.
I have 6s in the doors of my 92 Accord and they went in with out any modifications, and they have alot of midbass too. Granted I would love to have some 8s up there, but it would have been more work than the time I had to do it- need to finish other things in the car first...
