My friend, I wouldn't expect much midbass from either system...The tweeter on both sets is probably going to give you the range of say 5k to 20k hz, and the 4 is going to give you from around 200-5k hz which is considered midRANGE, not midBASS...A 4inch speaker would be hard pressed if you crossed it over much below 200 hz, that would give it way to much of a freq. to play, well,...to much to play well at least...the larger the freq range you make any speaker play-the less clear it will sound.
Hope that helped clear it up a little for you... for midbass (70-300hz) look at some 6.5" speakers or better yet an 8", 6.5"s are still a little to small for good midbass unless they are enclosed properly...

You might be able to get a better mid-bass response by filling the area with poly-fill (not to mention sealing that area if it isn't already). Again, this might help, but poly-fill is cheap, so it's a quick and easy fix that won't make your wallet hurt.
Much luck!!
I second the 6.5 or 8 (10 if you can get Dukk to help out!!). But, limitations will hamper the best of intentions....*sigh*

Okay if I got the HD-642dt three way setup and put the 4" in the doors and the tweets in the stock locations...How much room will I have to give up to fit the 6.5 in the kick area?

there not that big, only about 3inch's deep, this stupid sheet i'm looking at says 2.5 but the ruler says different. they are pretty big for a kick though.
if you change your mind about cutting the hole bigger, put the 6.5 in there and 4 and .75 in the kick. P.S. the cdt are damn nice, you might wanna get the upgrade version with the 1inch tweet. pretty blood red baskets, amazing crossovers, damn.

The DT's is the with the upgraded tweeter...But putting the 6.5 in the door and then putting the 4 in the kick would cost to much $$$ as I cannot do this on my own.
