I currently have Coaxes and never have owned a componet set, The Coaxes I have are MBQuart RKC-116's, I like the way they sound but there could be more bass come out of them and that would make me happier with 100 watts running to each of them I figured they would move a little more but anyway seems that I am discouraged or disappointed rather that they do not sound up to par, I am thinking of buying a Componet set but the downside is that I will not be building kicks, the car is going to be up for sale soon, I like the way MBQuarts sound I know I get the argument that they are harsh but with my EQ I can get them the way "I" like it, I am really impressed on how well the Quarts reproduce string music, well I have rambled on enough so here's my question would I have more bass in the doors if I bought a Componet set over Coaxes?, maybe toss the Coaxes in the rear for fill, I am thinking that I could maybe build some type of Arm to suspend the tweeter over the woofer.

If you stick with the same size woofer I don't know that you would get that much more bass out of them. The coaxes will lose a small amount of bass because of the gap between the woofer cone and the piece holding the tweeter but I don't know if that would be noticable. Have you done anything to the doors themselves? Often with the doors properly dampened and sealed the low end response will get better. But if you are selling the car soon I don't know if that would really be worth it. I like the idea of a tweeter arm for components, I have done this a couple times, mostly in kicks, but have been impressed every time. If you do this in the door I would think you could get even more benefit, plus you can make them look pretty good.
Don't worry about liking Quarts, everyone on here has their own favorite brands and their own opinions. We won't fault you for having your own, if you are using what you like best that is all we need to know.

Well I have done some dampening I did the outer shell with Cascade V block the, the sheet kind, I was going to try some Spray and do the inside of the door, but the time has come to get rid of the car, as for imaging and soundstage believe it or not with time alignment I can get a pretty good stage for having the drivers mounted so close to me, and in the doors, I see your point on the gap between Woofer and tweet, that would cause it to lose air,I do have foam baffles behind the drivers, but I do believe they resonate, and cause some sort of coloration around 400 HZ,thanks for the help.

Have you tried them without the baffles? If they are airtight they could act like a too small enclosure causing you to lose low end frequencies.

From playing with Quarts for a hwile I have found them to work better in either a free-air setup or in a largish enclosure (about .2ft3). Otherwise you wind up overdamping them and you don't get the bass sound you may have been looking for. Also look into there your crossover point is. I like for them to be crossed over a little lower if they are running free-air. Finally I think your idea of suspending the tweet over the woofer is an excellent one. Just don't make it a permanent mount until you get a chance to aim the tweet to your liking.

Well maybe I will remove the baffles and and buy some deflex pads or dampen behind the speaker and see if this gets rid of my standing wave problem I had in the past, any other suggestions.
also without the baffles it seems like I am losing alot of sound behind the door, would dampening more help this.
