a friend of mine has 8 tweeters in his tahoe which are all being run off of a 100w amp and it sounds really nice. they are mounted right above the door jabs near the ceiling of the truck going all the way bac kto the cargo area. I was planning on doing this with my Explorer sport which is much smaller. i know th emlounting location is terrible as far as sq is concerned but what i really want is loud high's. would 4 be going overboard?

If you're looking for loud highs, that'll do it. Or you could go with Quarts (very bright!!!) or with a set of horns. I'm not sure which route would be most affordable, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Most people like the sound-stage up-front, but if you like the highs from all around, then go for it .

If you recognize the drawbacks, then why don't you take the simple approach- Loud highs are best achieve by locating the speakers closer to your face. Stick the tweets on the headliner or the top of the pillar (for the front) and in the pillar between the two doors for the rear. That way, you'll get crazy loud tweets and your stage won't get shot all to he(double hockey sticks)

HEY! I'm looking for a CHEAP used Clarion Thunderdome.. Hook me up!

If the sub moves, use it. If the tweet's metal, lose it.
If you car doesn't have Oz, I just can't excuse it.

Kick Pods will difinately give you that front stage, as for loud highs, just run 4 tweeters up front. mount a set in the pods and a set on the pillars towards the top. If thats not loud enough then use a moderately powered amp dedicated to just the tweeters. MB Quart tweeters or Kicker ND-25 tweeters are some of the MOST loudest tweeters ive heard and used in the same setup. In my home setup im running 4 tweeters, 2 Kicker ND-25's and 2 MB Quartz musicomp tweeters with 25 watts, those tweeters together are some loud highs. I love it.

Nod to the Quart suggestion. You want loud Highs?! They'll give you loud Highs!! Not to my taste, but many, many, many people like them a lot!!

Good luck!!
