i have CDTech's HD-642st component system (6.5/4/.75) i wanna build a temporary box for them so i can audition amps a little easier, plus i'm not quite ready to install them in the car yet. what i need to know though, is a basic size enclosure for the 6.5 and the 4 so i can get a fairly accurate representation of the car, or just to have them perform as well as possible.

E-mail CDT directly, that is what I did when I needed to know volume for my CDT 52ST comps, just ask for Cubic inches or be ready to do a simple conversion from litres to cubes.

ya, cause that's always fun i'll send one off later today. i'm just gonna guestimate, and build it. there only temp boxes, just so i have something better than factory to listen too, till i get the whole install done.
should i have any problem running them off deck power (pioneer deh-7200, 45rms per channel, so they say ) will under powering them cause any damage.

Underpowering can cause damage, just`as overpowering can, but it is more an observation of signal clearity and the amount the speaker moves. It was designed to be used with more power, but as long as you get the cone moving to cool down the VC you should be fine.

dude, powering CDTech's 642HD's off a hu? why go out and spend 300-500 on components, and run them off some 200$ headunit? Those components can take 700 watts, and your going to feed them *LOL* 12 watts RMS per channel into 3 speakers? no offense dude, but I think they would sound a zillion times better if you had an amp on them...they need a lot of power, I've read a lot on sounddomain.com about them needing 200x2 to sound their best for the 2 way set, I have the 3 way and was giving them that power (200x2) and now I cut them back and biamped them with 50x4 and it doesn't sound quite as good, so I'm going to get a new amp... Hope that helps a bit... Oh, and for the box, the 6.5 needs .2 cuft sealed, and if your using that little wattage, you might want to bump that up to around .3 cuft....you want to use the recommended enclosure when you give them recommended power (180watts per channel), but if you have less power, you need to increase the enclosure volume , and vice versa..., but not sure what the recommendation is for the 4..
