hi does anyone know or give any suggestions why my mids are burnt (part of the split system), could it be because i turned up the treble on the head unit too high??,,, if so why wouldnt the crossover filter the highs to the mids to protect them???, i got these splits installed by a professional,, a shop,,,, so when i go back to them, i want to have an idea what could of caused this. Thanks
More than likely midranges are burnt by not being filtered at lower frequencies.. That is, the included crossover will cut high frequencies out of the mix, but it will NOT remove the lower frequencies from the midrange. Playing them under power like this has a tendency to destroy them.. If your mids are dead but your tweets aren't, I'd say this is probably the problem.

Nod. Make sure your hi-pass x-over (takes the lows out, I know you know that, but ) is set, or you get a passive/bass-blocker x-over to save those mids.
