I have a set of Audiobahn 4x6 plates in my dash and I am on my second set in two months ! Whats up with that ! I have them running on a PPI A200 with a pair of MTX 3 way 6x9's in the rear . The amp is not set to high cause I hate distortion . It is running in 2ohm stereo so the output should be 100 watts rms right ? Well rms on the 4x6's is 80 watts and 140 on the 6x9's so I should have 220 watts worth of speaker on each channel yes ? so what do I do to keep from blowin these things up ? Could I wire in an extra tweeter ? and if so should I wire the plates in paralel with the tweeters to 2ohms and then to the 6x9's in paralel which are 4ohms would that still give me a 2ohm load ? Or does anyone know of a 4x6 that will handle some big power ? Thanks for your input .

Do you have any type of high pass crossover on the 4X6 speakers? Your 6X9 can handle a whole lot more bass than the 4X6's so if you have loud bass from the back your poor little front speakers will be trying to move way too much. Have you listened to the 4X6 at your normal level without the 6X9's connected?
My guess is that you will hear the 4X6's bottoming out and making all kinds of distortion due to overexcursion.

My thoughts too. Put a set of bass blokers or other passive x-over on those 4x6 plates. It is a small investment that should save you a lot of money and time in the long run.
