I am starting to look into the placement of system components in my '93 cavalier. I found a really beautiful spot for a set of components right on the dash near the corner post, there is room for them on both the driver and passenger side. The problem? Well it is only enough room to accomidate a 4" set, not the 6.5's that I wanted to get (MB Quarts). My question was if anybody thinks it would be better to get the 6.5's and put them in the kicks or get the 4's and mount them in this dash location and them put some midbass in the doors. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Is that the old style?? If so, real good car for KP based midbass. Horns are a snap too!

I would get some 5.25" and put them in the kicks. You will get a wider sound stage with the 5.25", but you won't get as much volume out of them as you would with the 6.5". Why not get a three way set? put the bigger mid and the tweet in the kick and then put the 4" in the dash or where ever you were going to put it. But your idea about putting the 4" in the dash but I would put the tweets in the A-pilliar and face them at the winsheild and then put the midbass driver in the door. I think either way you will be happy with the sound.

Excellent advice above dude!! I'd either go with a 3-way from the same manufacturer (MBQuart?) or see if you can get a nice 3-way x-over and get the 6.5, 4, and tweeter that you want (doesn't matter which brands) and put them together in the locations youwant. I like Lowlife's 3-way idea (Dukk's horns would be nice too, get that 20k+ range )
