Poly-fil can only do so much. This might be out of the range of their capabilities. If the box is sealed properly (sealed as in air tight joints, not sealed vs. ported), then it could help quite a bit.
But, who knows, there is the posibility that any gaps in the seals will make the speaker act like it's ported. Poly-fil and ported boxes make a happy combo too.
If it were me, I'd go and seal in the gaps with silicone. That is if I'm reading your post correctly, it's late so I might not be. Then after the gaps are sealed, poly-fil and see what you get. It shouldn't cost much more than 8 - 12 dollars/bag. Worth the experiment .
If you're going to port the kps, then ask Dukk for some ideas. He's the port-god, IMO.
Good luck dude & keep us informed of your decision & progress.

well it is kind of a ghetto kick panel... it is basically a plexi panel that is bent to hold a 5.25 i can;t seal it... not worth the time or the effort i was just wondering whether the p-fill would help the "lows"

I think so, it's worth a try . It helped the 301s that I repaired for a friend (poly-fill was put in by Bose, but speaker needed patched). The speaker needed patched, it worked, but not 100%like new, about 95% - so there was probably some leakage of air. It sounded fine, a lot better than before with he tear in it .
