Hello... I just recently picked up some MB Quarts DSD 216 6.5" components to replace my stock speakers. I have heard good things about MB Quarts but not of these particuluar speakers, and what is the going price for these? I manage to pick them up for ~$220us is that any good?

Now I have a question about powering these speakers. Do I need a 4 or a 2 channel amp? If I send 50W RMS to one side does the 50W get divided by 2 so that I only get 25W going to the tweet and 25W to the woofer? I am a little confused about this... thanks!

Im not sure of the going price for them mids, But i paid 187 bucks for a Set of MB Quart RSB 215 5.25" Componets.

As for powering them, You could use either one but a 2 channel amp would be cheaper and probably more effective in the long run. With the CrossOvers, that right there pretty much eliminates the need of a 4 channel amp. I'd suggest an amp that does about 50-75 watts in 2 channels, but if not then the 50 watts will be divided in half for both drivers. Tweeters dont use much more then 20 watts at the highest volume out put. (so ive been told) I hope this helps, ill check up on the post to see anyone elses replies.

Thanks for responding!

Right now all I got is a Kenwood amp that is set up 3-way 2x25W and 1x70W (bridged). I guess that will have to do for now until I get a new amp then. Why does this have to be so addictive? I should have chosen a cheaper hobby , yeah right.

HAHAHA. I think everyone in car audio gets addicted like this. That Kenwood amp should be fine, untill you get the amp you prefer. Since its a 3-way componet set, id suggest a 75x2 or, 150x1 amp. Since its hard to find a 150x1 @ 4ohm amp, and the 2 channel way might sound better. Remember, im just tossing you some ideas and possible ways to go, what i say is just the way i would go. Everything is up to you. I'll check up on this post later on. Hope this can help.

Maybe i got confused. When you said the 3 way i thought you were talking about the mids being a 3 way set up, my mistake. There are 3 way Componets out there but this is off topic. The amp should be fine for what your looking to do, untill you find the amp you want.

Man, I notice that there isn't much traffic in this part of the forums... I am gonna try this question in the general forum and hopefully other people have some experience with these speakers.

You should be ok, like said above, with the Kenwood. The Quarts will do you well, but just remember that the tweeters get very loud , which can lead to listening fatigue.

As for price, I think that's about average - from the stores I've seen, that's actually pretty good.

Careful about dissin' the traffic here . j/k

PS: Much luck dude!!

thanks! As for the loudness of the tweets, can't that be adjusted by the gain controls to a comfortable level?

The gain can be an area to adjust from, if not you could turn down the Treble Adjustment on the Head unit itself, you could also use lower power amps, or add in a adjustable cross over. Any or all of those ways can help. I hope i have been help to you and your system.
