ok.. here's the deal..

in my GF's car, im considering running some Orion 6inch Co-incedental sepaker for front stage

i'm have to cut my budget as money is running out.. (i was considering Morel 6.5 coaxs.. but no $$$ )

i could either run them off a Coustic Design Reference amp.. 100wrms X 2 and use the inline passive Xover that came with it..

OR
i can use the Coustic 100x2 just for the midbass.. and im getting a 30w x 2 Coustic power logic amp off my friend soon which will be powering the tweeters.

will 30wrms for the tweet keep up with the 100wrms to the midbass?
and also will it sound much better?

i know i should try it and see which sounds better.. but to hook up the amps, run wires thru the grommets etc will take all day..

so do u think 30w for tweets is enough? or just use the passive... also the orions are fairly bright sounding..

another reason why im considering running passive is to ultilise my Coustic XM7.
current in her car, this mammoth Xover is just doing high/low pass duties... so i want to make more use of it.. a bit of a waste of an XM7 when an XM3 can do the samejob.. hehe

PS.. i do honestly believe what Dukk and Audiophile says about all amps sounding the same when not clipping... but im not sure why.. but when i ran the Orions 6s (in my car) using a Coustic Power Logic 50w x 2 sounded much smoother than a RF 100.2/240.4.... i have no idea why.. weird.. as i expected the RF to sound better.. but anyway, just wanna let u know that i think Coustic ROCK!!..

30 should be enough. If it doesn't seem loud enough, then go back to using the passive x-over and powering everything with the 100x2. IMO, 30 should be enough.

Good luck either way

I am a coustic fan, however, the Power Logic amps (smaller than 50x2) were glorified chip amps. If it were me, I'd go ahead and run the componets off of the mosfet amp...

DOH!!!!

i just sold a 50w x 2 Power Logic to a friend a couple of weeks back!!

i just assumed the smaller 30w would sound the same as the 50/70w coustic...

thanx for the quick responses.. i see and have some fun with it
