What's up everyone, I'm new to the board and also new to a good bit of car audio stuff. I would like to know a good pair of tweets to match up the system I'm designing. I need some tweets that are good for SQ, and preferably under $60. I'm wanting to get Infinity Kappa 4X6 in my dash and JL audio XR series 6 1/2" components for my doors, and my sub will be a Kicker L7 12. My truck is a 97 s-10 and the amp I'll be using on my other highs is a Rockford Fosgate 300X or something just as good, if i can find one, preferably with more power than 35x4. Anyway my setup will be for SQ so I'm not wanting it to sound harsh by any means, just clean highs. And would it really be necessary to buy separate tweets since the Infinities already have them in my plates. Thanks for any help and keep the forum going. Later.

The speakers going in my doors are gonna be used for midbass...I know i said components but that was my mistake....the only set of tweets are the ones in the 4x6 plates.

Have you heard the Kappas before? If you're not looking for a harsh sounding setup, you may want to keep looking, because I find Infinity's products to be somewhat on the harsh side.

Remember that more isn't always better. Personally, I would pass on running 4x6's in the dash altogether and add the money saved to your tweeter fund.

For the higher pricerange, you could check out
-http://www.ampmanaudio.com/products/details.asp?id=241
-http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&PartNumber=264-555&DID=7

For cheaper tweets, Audax, Morel, Peerless, Seas, and Vifa all make great products. Madisound, Partsexpress, and Zalytron all sell raw drivers.

Well, after reading a lot more posts on this forum I'm starting to reconsider my Infinities, I've heard more people say they are harsh also, I'm basically going to go with my factory speaker locations because I don't have a lot of money to work with, and mainly top name stuff, like Infinity, etc. If you know of any better 4x6s i can put in my dash for around 100 bucks by all means let me know, all I'm going by is what i've heard people say about stuff....all the shops around here sell stuff like bostwick and other stuff not known to be of great quality, so it's really hard for me to listen to anything before I buy it. I would like to hear as many opinions as i can before i finally decide what to do....I'm wanting to keep the amp the Rockford 300X unless anyone knows a better amp for less $. All I'm doing for the moment is throwing out ideas, haven't really finalized anything yet, so any and all input is needed. I'm sort of on a budget too so the price range i need is around $100 bucks for mid-range (mid-bass), and $100 highs, the subwoofer I'm already sure I'm getting. The amp for my highs I want to be around 50x4 (or more) and somewhere between 150 and 200 bucks. You guys have been a big help so far and I appreciate everything...later.

If you have the JL xr 6 1/2's why not skip the 4x6 altogether and just get a tweeter. I would suggest the JL XR tweeter (match for the midbass). Play with mounting locations and that may be all you need. If you later feel you want a three way set up (midbass, midrange and Tweeter), you can buy a dedicated midrange at that time. I think you will be fine with just the 6 1/2 and tweeter.
