Hi. I've just recently purchased a US Amps 400X: 100x2 @ 4ohms. And now I need a comp set for it.
I want a 2 way and it has to be 5 1/4 or smaller. It will be going into my doors, no kicks for me. My clutch takes up enough room and I don't wanna lose my dead pedal so please don't suggest I use kicks.

I have a list of comp sets and I need help narrowing them down. I don't wanna know which is the "best", I just wanna know which really don't belong with the rest. Or others I may not have considered. And I don't want to build my own set.

List so far (I have heard about half of these):
a/d/s 345is
235is

Boston BA 5.5
Z5
RC520

CDT HD-52
ES-520
CL-51

Diamond S500a/S500s HEX
M551

Dynaudio System 220MKII

Focal 136K
136W

ID CXS54

Infninity Perfect 5.1

JBL C508GTI

MB Quart QM 215.61Q
QSD 213
PSD 213

OZ Audio 130 CS

Rainbow PRO CS230-P3
Profi-Ex CS230P
CS230-5.25

Oh, and about the rainbows. I know NOTHING about them and I believe I got these model #'s off of ampman so maybe they could be written incorrectly or maybe I'm missing some I dunno.

I'm looking to spend between 300-500 but will work with pretty much anything around there. Sorry for the long post.

I listen to everything but hard core rap and polka.

i would go for a set that will have a decent amount of midbass since you only can fit a 5 1/4" . the diamond audio set didnt impress me much with the midbass and the tweeter was too harsh for my tastes . that is the only set ive heard out of the ones you mentioned . do you prefer more aggressive in you face music or more neutral and laid back ?

I would get the CDTs they'd probably get hella loud, although all the comps on there look good. Also the MB Quart QSD if you are into that kind of money. Many of the sets you mention i have not heard though.

IMO the Dyns lack output but cannot go wrong with the Chameleons or focal sets. ADS lack midbass and have not heard the CDT's but hear good things about them. Your best bet is to hear diff sets in cars and decide.

Good Luck
