ok i have a set of older Pioneer 6x9"s i would like to use for my mid-bass. i was also considering the Infinity perfect 6.5" component set and building custom kick panels for them. should i try to use the 6x9"s? or go with the component set? also what are ur opinions on the infinity perfect component set? i read that they are excellent for mid-bass and after using their pefect 12.1 i am hooked. i know there are better subs, but i like this maily for its nice SQ.

I would use the 6.5 for midbass duties, leave the 6x9s in the box or sell them to someone that wants to run a 6-pack

any comments on the Infinity kappa component set? i would made fiberglass kickpanels, and could i also leave my door speakers in place with the kickpanels or would that be to much?

If you can, test out a pair of Kappas against a pair of Reference comps. The Kappas have some very good tweeters and natural mid-bass. If you're a bass-head, then the Kappas will sound pretty lacking. The Reference comps tend to be more geared toward rock, rap, low-end/driving mid-bass. The JBL GTO & Power comps (or this year's equivalent model) are on-par with the Infinity Reference series.
CV V-Mag are pretty schweet too. They take plenty of abuse and can get pretty deep for a mid-bass driver. Ryb & some others have been talking up the DD 6.5" component set....to the point where this here Vifa fan might just be considering get a set.
Speaking of Vifa....Vifa/Peerless/Scan-Speak, Morel/Macrom, Dynavox, & Audax are all very good, affordable, seperate options. Bravox might be worth looking into as well....I've not run them, but I've heard good things about them. You can find those & Focal @ PartsExpress or Madisound.
Of course, the JL, RF, Kicker, PG, Orion equivalents are always a good option. I was very pleasantly surprised by DEI, Audiobahn, & Memphis' offerings in the coaxial & component market as of late. Affordable & good sounding. I haven't had the opportunity to listen to Crossfire, Alpine, Eclipse, & BA's newest offerings though....

i think im going with the Infinity Perfect 6.1 component in a custom kickpanel enclousure (when i get that much $$). i have no idea why im going with them, guess cuz i have a Perfect 12"...i know im going to get cut up for this, but i like infinity and i know theres better out there, but its an SQ not SPL system and to me Infinitys sound really good. thanx for all the advice, hopeflly one day i will get into the custom audio profession.
