Hi all , i'm in the market for some new speakers and I finally got to hear focals today. i went to listen to the polykevlar 165K and 165K2.
Now they aren't bad speakers by any means but they didn't impress me either. There were some thing that were better on the 165K and there were some things better on the 165K2.
Drums sounded better to me on the 165K because they had more impact than on the 165K2. The midrange on the k2 was more realistic than on the 165k. A flute sounded also better on the 165k2.
Now the focals are imo warm speakers and what i miss about them is that they aren't very clear. Voices just sound a bit muffled.
Have any of you got advice to what other speakers I can listen. note : it is very difficult over here to audition speakers.
The focals are good but i am not going to replace my cantons with them.

you really need to hear the focal 165w3's. they kick ace man, loud, clear, clean, but not as crisp on the highs as i like. i like my highs running hot, so that the cymbols hurt the ears!

The TN-51 tweet was NOT crisp enough for you?! I just sold mine because of the fact they ARE excessively sibilant. If those weren't crisp enough for you, I don't think I ever want to hear your system . . . never thought I would see the day someone complained that the TN-51 wasn't bright enough . . .
