well the pair would cost you almost 200, but the digital designs 6.5 mid bass are the best i have heard. they handel crazy power, get stupid loud, and are VERY accurate. they sound best in a .4 cu ft enclosure, but they can be run infinate baffel with no problem. i will be giving mine 150 watts, but bet they could be given a lot more.
peerless makes really good mid bass drivers from what i have heard, as does morel. those brands can be found at www.partsexpress.com and the dd mids are ar www.ddaudio.com
cdt also makes good stuff, they can be found at www.ampmanaudio.com

Pioneer deh-p8000

The DDW6.5s are close. I recently ordered one for replacement of a blown one, and it was $72 shipped to my door. I really think spending $144 on a pair would be a very good choice. I don't know if there is a 6.5 driver that can do midbass as well as the DDW6.5.

If Ryb is recommending DD 6.5s, I'd seriously give them a consideration.

I'm a huge Vifa & Morel fan, but after reading through Ryb's comments on the DDs, I think that the next system that I do will = DD 6.5s. The s-10 will probably = Vifa/Peerless & Morel, but whenever we get my wife a new car, me thinks that it might be getting a set of DD 6.5s or 5.25s along with some Vifa or Morel Tweets (in answer to the post above).

If you're mainly concerned about output and you're willing to go with a 7", you might want to try to squeeze in an 8". Illusion Audio makes a very shallow depth driver and I think Image Dynamics does also.

But if you're more concerned with SQ, that DD sounds perfect. Actually considering DD subs, there 6.5 might hang with most companies 8" in SPL.
