im about to get a explorer and it has 5x7's in the doors. i know i can get a 61/2 in there or 51/4 becasue i did it in my t-bird.

im also going to get a set of q-forms i know its better to make my own but im going to wate for that.

what mids should i go with i was thinking about getting 61/2's in the kicks with 1 in's tweets, and 61/2's also in the doors. for power ill probley have a 4 ch. 85-100 watt amp on the kicks and a 2 ch on the doors. what do you guys think will be best.

If you are going to go the Q-form route, I would suggest you give USD Audio a call (www.usdaudio.com) they sell premade fiberglass kick panels that would be much sturdier, and they sell them for around the price of Q-Forms.

As for mids and amps, you are going to have to give a price range. We could recommend an all Brax setup and you out the door for just under $5 grand or we could recommend an all Audiobahn setup if you want to go a lot cheaper. Let us know some prices . . .

Hm, so $500 for just the mids or $500 for the mids and tweets combined? I have heard nothing but great things about the DD's. Also look into Illusion's ND series, if you would be willing to consider home drivers look at Eton mids (www.madisound.com has a nice PDF on the Etons). As for tweets, Scan-Speak makes a very nice set intended for auto use, DLS tweets are nice, Dyn's, Diamond, any of those are good tweets. What type of sound do you want? Do you want a really laidback, neutral sound? More agressive? That info would also help us make suggestions.

i guess im going for something that will keep up with 3 RE HC 12's and 2 RE35.1 amps. im looking for something thats smooth and agressive i guess something in the middle.

if i go with a amp thats 85x4 and put DD 61/2's in the doors and kick's. and a 85x2 amp on the tweets how do you think that would sound, and what tweaters would match the DD mids.

im sorry im still new to all this im used to coexals and my last car had a crystel comp. sets in it. i likes the sound but they couldent hold that much power.

Well, pretty much nothing on the market will totally keep up with 3 RE 12's, so bear in mind that at the top output of your subs, your mids and tweets won't be all that audible. However, the DD is one of the best midbass' for getting loud from what I have read, so that sounds like a very good start. However, I would be very wary of putting a set in the doors and the kicks. Any time you have two different speakers in two different locations playing the same signal, really strange things start to happen. Cancellation, coloring, weird imaging. I would stick to either one set, or put two sets right adjacent to each other somehow. I am not sure what the wattage ratings of the DD's are, but whatever it is, push those things the max amount of watts they can take if you want to try and keep up with those subs.

Well, pretty much any good tweet should match up. I have been told that the upper midrange on the DD's not anything special, so you should try to find a tweet that you can cross over at lower frequency. Look into DLS, Seas, Dynaudio, Oz, and a few others for good tweets.

You could get a set of DLS UR1 tweets and a set of Eton mids for ~$350. That is what I will be running in my system. Don't forget that if you buy separate components to budget money for a good x-over.
