Ive got my horns picked out, Ive got my mid bass drivers picked out, now all I need are the mids.

I will be using Image Dynamics CD1Pro horns, and Im 98% sure I will be using the Phoenix Gold Elite 9" midbass drivers.

Now I need some mids. Im looking for great quality build, high output and awesome sound quality. 6 1/2" in size.

These are the contenders so far:

Focal Utopia
CDT Eurosport
ID chameleon mid
dynaudio MW 160GT (new mids, havent heard much on them)

I would consider some home audio products such as Eton and Seas. They make two of the best midranges available anywhere. www.meniscusaudio.com has both of them . . . Out of that list you had, the Dyn's are the only ones I would put in the same realm as the Eton and Seas. I had a set of Focal Utopia's, but sold them because while they were very accurate, detailed and spacious sounding with loads of tight midbass, their midrange just didn't have a very natural timbre to it. They image like mad, but just never sounded real to me. That being said, they are great speakers that I enjoyed immensely, it just got to the point where better timbre was something I really wanted.

timbre (pronounced "tamber" or "timber") is the coloration, or lack thereof. It is the characteristic sonic signature if you want to call it that. It is the difference between something sound real and something sounding fake. The difference between metal and soft dome tweets is mainly one of timbre, the metal tweets are typically more aggressive and airy, soft dome tweets are typically smoother and more pleasant.
