Ok, I tried to make a mold of the wall of my car so I can maximize the airspace in my kick pod. The problem I ran into was that when I started putting on the hardner the mat started to sag and not stay in place well, letting the shape go.

Anyone have any tricks to holding the mat in place while I put the hardner on?

I don't understand what you are doing? You seal off the area... Mix the hardner/resin... Brush some resin (with the hardner already WELL mixed together) onto the area... Put the mat/cloth down... Add resin as required... Let dry... If the resin is too liquidy, they make all different kinds of resin... Some that will hold stuff to the roof while wet.

I used cloth becuase it stays together a little bit better, but had a similar problem when doing my kicks.
A couple ideas though. You don't need very much resin, there should only be enough to soak through the cloth but not so much that it runs or drips.
Another trick I have done when I couldn't come up with any other way is to sandwich the cloth/mat between two pieces of aluminum foil. Put down one piece of foil, lay some resin on it, put the glass down, a little more resin to soak through, and then the other piece of foil. Fold up the edges so that no resin can leak out and mold into place. With this method you can use tape or whatever you need to hold the foil in place while it hardens, and since the whole thing is flexible you can get into where ever you need.
