They're super expensive, sound great, but the construction of the mid drivers isn't anything special. My brother got a set for cheap ($500 set for $200) i was looking at the mid driver, and the basket is plastic.
Pretty sure he got these:

Are all MB quart sets made out of cheap materials? I'm not saying they're crap, i was just surprised to see a plastic basket mid driver. The cone is wierd, it's powder coated.

I got sick of waiting 9 minutes for a thread to load at Sounddomain so i will now use the Termpro forums for 'word of mouth' car audio information

they use a very high grade plastic with very good internal damping qualities. They chose it for a reason, not because it is cheap. Heck, paper is still one of the best materials out there for making speaker cones, but when people see paper they think cheap even when that is not necessarily the case.
