Take a look over in the SQ forum, there have been many threads in regard to the DD 6.5 component set -> haven't heard a bad thing about them. Unparalleled mid-bass and excellent highs (DD 6.5s w/Vifa XT-25) for a decent cost.

You may want to look into Vifa/Peerless mid-bass drivers as well (although, I've been told that the DD mid-bass will overpower them easily). I own a set of 8" Vifa mid-bass drivers for the basement system and they are very warm & natural.

Morel makes some excellent tweeters as well. I've not listened to their mid-bass drivers in quite a while, but tweeters are very natural and smooth, IMO.

Check out Madisound or PartsExpress for individual drivers from: Vifa, Audax, Morel, Focal, Dynavox, Peerless, ScanSpeak, etc.

Good luck [Smile]

I would like the dd drivers but I don't want kick panels. I don't want the vifa 25 tweets b/c I cant surface mount them.

something to try for the tweets
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Use r_ID=7656963&St=6991&St2=68139386&St3=71802313&DS_ID=3&Product_ID=118187&DID=7

$60.83 for 2 tweets and 2 of the flush mount cups

M18WN19-04 7" treated paper cone woofer (no grill) $49.75

off madisound.com $50 a pop for 7" vifa "automotive"

165 WR 33 102 SD AL (6.5" CSC-X Woofer)
6.5" peerless automotive mid
38$ a pop off madisound.com as well

LPG 26NA & 26NAFM
1" neodymium magnet tweeters
28$ a pop off madisound

figured the 7" would fit for you with little trouble

Is the Lpg brand a good brand of tweet? How does peerless compare to vifa. Does madisound still make crossovers? One more thing what about the peerless autosound tweeter that is 12.80

never heard the lpg tweets however they look pretty good [Smile]
peerless and vifa are quite comparable though vifa kinda edges them out...don't get me wrong they both have very nice speakers

i personally am going to try the peerless csc-x speakers in my next install
and for x-overs being sold through madisound i couldn't tell ya

you probably wouldn't be that bad off if you just bought stuff to cross over the tweet and let the 6.5-7" play as high as it can...as long as you have something on the signal line that will cut out the low freq. to it

and lastly about that peerless tweeter thats cheap..don't know never heard it sorry...its probably cheap enough to buy it and try it out just for the heck of it...i have no doubt that its atleast compareable to the tweets in the sub $100 to mid $100 comp sets

I would send me $150 and for that you get 3 JL Audio XR series 6 1/2's and a brand new pair of Polk/Momo Tweets. An Extra $25 gets you the Polk/Momo xovers too

I just found out those peerless drivers have a deep moutning depth. Hope they will still fit in my stock locations. I think I am going to try the lpg tweet but how will 8 ohm tweet and 4 ohm driver effect my set up?
