Infinity Reference & Kappa make some very nice 2-way 5x7s -- I used to run the Kappas in my BII. I had them running off of a Punch 40 and then just off of the Kenwood CD HU. They replaced the Kicker Impulse 5x7s, which weren't bad at all.

CV HED might be another good option. JBL GTO are very similar to the Infinity Reference. Boston Accoustics & Alpine are a couple other brands that I'd look into - similar to Infinity in quality. I don't know if Eclipse makes 5x7s anymore - my father-in-law has a set of their 6.5" PointSource coaxials = very nice!

Good luck [Smile]

I ran my Kappas (5x7s & 3.5s) off of a Kenwood CD player in the BII after I had to sell my P60ix & P40. They didn't sparkle like before (with a P40 running them @ 2 Ohm stereo), but they sounded very good!

Just make sure that you put a high-pass x-over on them! I trashed my right-rear tweeter (coaxial) due to the lows getting to them. It still played, but was much muddier. Even in-line passive bass-blocker style x-overs would be good (100 - 150 Hz highpass should work).

My Kenwood was ~10 - 15 WRMS, so your Alpine should do them justice. I think the Kappas = 70 - 80 WRMS, you can feed them more.

Good luck [Smile]
