Ben,

I haven't heard a whole lot from Focal recently, but then again, they are not carried by the stores around me (our loss!!). But, from what I remember of them, they are some of the best sounding speakers out on the market. If they have kept their tradition alive, which from Fred's comments they have, then you should have no problems with them - once you purchase them.

As with most/all speakers, it will depend on how they need to be installed vs. how they are installed as to how they sound. I know you know this, else you wouldn't be looking into such great speakers . But, just double-check with the sales people and install guys at the shop - and here obviously!! - to see how best to put them in and what not.

Hope they work well for you and let us know what you think about them (or the other speakers that you choose in their place)!!

Rock on!

UB

The Focal TLR is the Audiom Series top end tweeter for home use, also known as the T3X Expert tweet for car use last year.. Approximate price is around 900$ per pair.

I haven't heard them, but they have been described to me as unerringly accurate, open and crystal clear, with just a hint of listening fatigue at high power levels due to the lack of any warmth injected by the dome material, although they are very true to the source.

Very expensive, very high quality.. What else would you expect from focal? :-)

In fact, regarding the listening fatique, they are the only of a kind I believe. When you try to add highs and add too much there is no pain in the ears like with most tweeters. You just realise that its too much highs! Its like putting another suger in the coffee - too much but still tasty.
The sound is just different from anything I've heard before.
Anyway before you buy them consider there size and shape - very tricky to install (I mean to make an install worth $1000 tweeters! :-) ).

Well the reason I ask is We sell them at work at the store I work at and we have only heard them on home theatre speakers. I guess our Canadian Distributor Larry Penn is coming to visit us in his Ford Focus with his Focal Utopia 6, 4 and tweet combo on March 7th and he also has 2 27Vx utopia subs it should be really nice sounding man I cant wait to hear it and learn more about Focal.

For a gander at some of the best drivers in the world, http://www.focal.tm.fr would be the place to go.. Also the home of focal's 1500 dollar subwoofer.

http://www.orcadesign.com also has info on other "ultra-fi" products, such as Raven, Cabasse, etc.
