I would love to see an actual comparision of these 2 amp side by side. Im undecided on which to get and im afraid it will just end up going to the cheap one. Any takers?

I would go with the Crossfire for one reason...I bought an Orion amp and the tech sheet was rated 1000 watts@14.4 volts then recently I got a Crossfire amp that was rated 600 watts@12 volts. If you get an amp that is rated at 12 volts when your car is running at lets say 14 volts your amp will produce 20% power then rated so that puts the Crossfire at 2400 watts RMS and since the Orion amp is rate at 14.4 your power would be less then what it was rated. Also I used the Orion amp on the subs I got and did 145.4 DB and with the less powerful Crossfire amp I did 146 db how is that????

its not really which one does more power... its which one does more power at impedence rise. although that is really a biatch to test all the ones, considering the endless amount of resistences you would have to do. i still perfer resistive testings. crossfire is a very strong amp, i would rather have that...

My HCCA amp is extremely power hungry. and it isn't even the big one....
you are correct about THE OLD ORION, the new orion is regulated.

The VR1000D was tested at 1125Wrms at 14.4V. If crossfire keeps with its ratings, the 2000D might do 2250Wrms.
Both amps are very powerful. I've yet to see a published test of the Orion

Both are great amps, and you will never have any problems with either one, but I would go with the crossfire because if you are able to ever feed it more then 14 volts input voltage, it will keep on giving you more.
either one you buy is going to give you more then what you want. good choices, tough decision when you actually sit down and look at at. Both have good build quality, etc. great customer service, etc.

Keep in mind... you can run two 1000Ds bridged together at .5 ohm. Thats what I do.. and I can pull about 1500watts a piece from them at 14.5 volts. If you decide to go with CROSSFIRE, think about getting 2 1000Ds instead of 1 2000D. More power for the money. Posts: 21 | From: TX | Registered: Jul 2003

Few things... first, the current Orion 2500D is not fully regulated, it is loosely regulated as Orion amps have always been. Second, it makes rated power at 1 ohm. The Crossfire makes its max power @ 2 ohm. Third, not sure when the one poster bought an Orion amp with a test sheet, but we currently test and spec Orion amps @ 13.8V, not 14.4V. And we don't have birthsheets any more either, so I assume he was talking about older product.
